Student Council Canned Food Drive Community Project

Student Council Canned Food Drive Community Project

Thank you to all students for making a donation and for helping make this first canned food drive a success as we were able to collect more than 60 cans of food. The students in English Literacy Language 1 and Social Studies 10 classes brought in 38 cans of food and won a free pizza lunch.

On April 25, 2019, Ms. Dimple and Ms. Lisa took the canned food to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society. A food bank is a non-profit organization that collects and distributes food to hunger-relief charities. Food banks act as food storage and distribution depots for smaller front line agencies; and usually do not themselves give out food directly to people struggling with hunger. Food drives are important because they help provide food for the community members. The people there were so grateful for our schools donation. Thank you once again students at St. John’s Academy for your generosity.
