St. John’s Academy is located in the beautiful city of Vancouver B.C. Bordering Burnaby, students can explore the beautiful city and take in the vast beauty of everything Vancouver has to offer. Located in a picturesque neighbourhood, students can walk and shop along the many mini malls in close proximity. Just blocks away is the infamous Pacific National Exhibition – PNE – (a huge attraction in Vancouver), the area itself is mainly residential and is populated with quaint shops and services along Hastings. Stroll the streets, wonder into a cafe for some appies, it is safe and convenient. Through huge classroom windows, students have incredible views of the Burrard Inlet and mountains which give students the opportunity to explore on the weekends.

Quarter System
Grade 10- 12 At St. John’s Academy, we have a two quarter system with our quarters which runs from September – June each year. Students take 4 courses per quarter, which offers flexibility in what and when they can take courses and it offers a tighter more efficient curriculum. Students interact with their core teachers more frequently which allows an increase in interpersonal relationships and finally, some students love the ability to accelerate their study by earning the Dogwood Certificate in less time.
Linear System
Grade 8-9 Our grade 8 and 9 program offers 8 courses per year as we focus on the foundational language skills needed for success. Students are truly immersed in a holistic program that allows inquiry, promotes risk taking and then growth. First and foremost is to ensure safety of students as they transition into St. John’s Academy and we have a bridging program that does just that. Learning new study habits, the Canadian Culture and meeting new friends in our fun learning environment our essential.
St. John’s Academy, has Three intakes per year: January, July, and September.

Every parent wants their child to be the best that they can be. At St. John’s Academy, we know that having faculty that are masters at their trade, having faculty that communicate effectively is imperative, having faculty that offer continuous feedback is imperative, building of relationships first and foremost. You want someone who has experience in the field and hands-on knowledge of 21st Century skills needed for future success. At St. John’s Academy you get just this. All faculty hired at St. John’s Academy, go through a detailed screening process, have the most up to date certification and are continuously learning in their own field. We want our students to embody the LOVE OF LEARNING and with the passion and enthusiasm that our faculty bring your child is bound to be successful.
Upon admission to St. John’s Academy students are asked to take a FREE state of the art screening assessment (Versant Test). This test allows our educational team to plan an Individual Educational Plan for each student which focusses on the strengths and weaknesses of each student. Some students may need to strengthen their English Language and are placed in one of our three ELL levels offered. Each level builds upon the skills (reading, writing, speaking, comprehension) needed for success. Our ELL program also has learning strategy courses (Math, Science, and Social Studies) all credited- that give students the opportunity to learn the vocabulary, big ideas and foundational knowledge needed when transitioning into the core subjects needed for graduation. With constant feedback to students and parents- our ELL program is highly successful.
The educational journey starts for our students the first time the connection with an admissions officer. Our detailed, educational profile and open communication with families pave the way for student success. We start with the end goal in mind and plan accordingly- that is why so many of our students are so successful. We have a 99% graduation rate of our students in which they are then prepared to enter the university of their choice.
