St. John’s Academy provides innovative mentoring services through caring and effective mentors. Our team of mentors are certified teachers and also have extra training in student mental health welfare.

Each mentor takes on a maximum of 30 students so that there are ample time and opportunity for each student to benefit from their mentorship. A mentor will serve as a friend, advocate, coach, and listener to the mentee on personal, school, career, and other issues. A mentor will also provide support for mentees with their transition to secondary education in Canada. Mentors are expected to encourage mentees as they embark on new experiences and also assist them toad discover their interests and talents and establish how they learn best. Mentors share information with the school advisor so that effective action plans can be set up for each student should there be a need.
