Mr. Mike Froberg

Mike Froberg is a graduate of SFU and has been teaching English and Theatre since 2005. Highlights of his teaching career include working for 3 years in the US and 2 years in England. He has also coached school baseball teams and has directed numerous high school plays. Mr Froberg is excited to be a part of the St John’s team and is looking forward to sharing his expertise in helping students excel at their academic goals.

Ms. Azita Kaboly

Secondary Education Credential from University of California Fullerton, Masters Degree in Microbiology from Azad  University Iran, and Bachelors in Animal Science. Ms. Kaboly has been a passionate educator for over 10 years in both Biology and ESL.

Mr. Thanos Karasmanis

Mr. Karasmanis worked in the private technology sector for 15 yrs. in the areas of operations management & corporate finance prior to becoming a college teacher where he taught for several years. The past few years, Mr. Karasmanis has transitioned into high school teaching and immensely enjoys shaping the lives of future leaders. He holds a BA in Management from California State University and an MBA with a dual focus in Finance & Information Technology from the University of La Verne. He also holds an MA from Trinity Western University. When not in the classroom, Mr. Karasmanis can be found enjoying the great outdoors.

Ms. Miri Kim

Ms. Miri obtained both her B.A and B.Ed. from UBC in music education. She has a degree in Nursing and is a registered nurse in South Korea and New York State jurisdictions. She has been teaching music for five years in private and group settings.

Mr.Brian Kim

Brian Kim graduated from Simon Fraser University with a Bachelor of Applied Science. Along with passion for teaching mathematics and physics, he has always played sports and enjoyed the games, the friendships made, and the energy. His favorite activities include road biking, backcountry skiing, tennis and golf. Brian is currently also an active member of Tennis Professional Association in Canada and holds a tennis instructor license certified byTennis Canada. His teaching philosophy is focused on respecting and understanding the uniqueness of each student, regardless of their background knowledge. He truly believes every student can achieve academic success once students believe in themself and be confident in what students are learning.

Dr. Ravi Mishra

Dr. Ravi Mishra holds a Ph.D. in English and a Cambridge CELTA certificate in teaching ESL. Ravi has 14 years of teaching experience with Graduate and High School students in India. He has taught both IB and CISCE Board curricula and developed resources and teaching materials for ESL for young and adult learners. He is a published author with his novel, Destination Nowhere, marketed by Leadstart Mumbai internationally. He has also written essays on religion that have been published in international literary magazines, including, among others, the Beatdom magazine, New York.


Mr. Steven Reeder

Steven Reeder has been teaching English to various levels of students for over 25 years. He spent most of his career in South Korea, teaching at secondary and post-secondary institutions. He received a Master’s degree at California State University in the Humanities with an emphasis on literature, philosophy, and history. He returned to Canada in 2021 and is happy to be teaching the wonderful students here and St. John’s Academy.

Ms. Annie Zhong

Ms. Annie Zhong is graduated with a dual degree in Mathematics and Education and IB Certificate in Teaching and Learning for Diploma Programme at the University of British Columbia. She is aiming to support students to become inquiring, knowledgeable, and open-minded life-long learners and caring citizens of a global community through building an excellent student learning environment. Annie is dedicated in preparing students for the future with the ability to use social and emotional skills to communicate with others, maintain healthy behaviors, and make responsible decisions.
